Allergy Friendly Macaroni and Cheese

Introducing Allergy-Friendly Macaroni and Cheese, a comforting classic. This recipe offers a delicious solution for those with dietary restrictions, providing a gluten-free, dairy-free, and egg-free alternative that doesn’t compromise on flavor or taste. With just a handful of simple ingredients and easy steps, you can create a satisfying meal that the whole family will love.

Servings 5 servings –  Prep time 10 minutes – Cooking time 1 hour 


  • 2 cups of gluten-free elbow pasta
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Dairy-Free White Sauce (recipe provided below)
  • 1/2 cup of dairy-free cheddar-style shreds, or as needed (Plant-Powered Dairy-Free Cheese, available at Woolworths)


  1. Pre heat oven at 180 Degrees.
  2. Boil pasta as per package instructions.
  3. Make the white sauce
  4. Spread the pasta in a casserole dish. Add the sauce, adjust seasoning and mix.
  5. Spread the cheese on top. Place in the oven and bake for 30 minutes.

Basic White Sauce:

  • 3 Tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp All Purpose Flour
  • 2 cups (480ml) Soy Milk (or other non-dairy milk)

Spices to taste:

  • Ground Black Pepper
  • Salt


  1. Heat oil in a pot over medium to high heat on the stove.
  2. Once the oil is hot, add the flour and whisk vigorously until combined.
  3. Pour in the soy milk all at once, and continue to stir and whisk, alternating between a wooden spoon and a whisk, allowing the sauce to gradually thicken.
  4. The sauce will typically reach the desired thickness after reaching boiling point and boiling for a few minutes.
  5. Once you’ve achieved the desired thickness (remembering that the sauce will thicken further as it cools), remove the pot from the heat and season with your choice of spices, such as salt, black pepper or any spice of your choice.
