World Allergy Week and World PI Week
During World Allergy Week we reached out to the media to help create awareness on Atopic Dermatitis/Eczema. Thank you to all our partners who took hands in this initiative.
Thank you to all medicals professionals for their radio interviews – educating and creating awareness – some of the highlights: Prof Mike Levin in studio with Pippa Hudson from Cape Talk discussing Atopic Dermatitis, Prof Claudia Gray on Smile904FM discussing Atopic Dermatitis, Dr Nomphelo Gantsho on CCFM discussing Eczema ABC, Dr Marilee Kriel on RSG, Dr Gloria Davis on CapricornFM discussing Asthma, Prof Jonny Peter who had several interviews with various radio stations.
Dr Dayo Awotedu also ran educational events regarding Eczema in East London at the Health Resource Centre and at the CMH hospital which were a great success – thank you to the sponsors Dis-Chem and Galderma. Dr Corli Lodder held an educational event on Eczema at Epworth Children’s Home in Johannesburg and a big thank you to sponsor Eucerin.
Various Facebook competitions were held involving EpyDerm, Kuraflo and Pure Products – many thanks to our sponsors and to all who entered and participated and congratulations to the winners!
Food allergy restaurant/food service outlets survey
Thank you to everyone who participated in this survey – this will hopefully help us get to the point where we can provide Food Allergy training to all food service outlets giving you the assurance that the restaurants you choose are allergen aware. MamaMagic Expo at the Dome in Joburg
AFSA has a stall at the MamaMagic Expo in Johannesburg on 17th – 20th May 2018. We will have various allergy specialists at our stall at different times if you wish to come and meet us and get advice from the experts.

Schools Training
We are very excited about the imminent rollout of our school’s training initiative for all schools – helping them to comply with the ‘Allergy in School’s Policy’. Please see more information on the first schools event here. Thank you to Cipla for sponsoring this event. Follow-up training will be done via our AFSA online learning academy
This free event is for school teachers, school staff and carers/parents and all Western Cape Schools are invited to attend.
