World Allergy Week 2026
The Allergy Foundation of South Africa (AFSA), in collaboration with the World Allergy Organization (WAO) and its member societies, invites you to participate in World Allergy Week 2026, taking place from 21–27 June 2026.
This year’s theme, “Allergy Care is Essential Care,” highlights the importance of prioritising allergy care, improving access to diagnosis and treatment, strengthening allergy services, and increasing public awareness of allergic diseases.
World Allergy Week is a global initiative that brings together healthcare professionals, patient organisations, policymakers, and the public to advance allergy awareness, education, and advocacy worldwide.
AFSA is actively engaged in advocacy aimed at improving clarity and accountability across food systems and supply chains, including allergen labelling in packaged foods, transparency around ingredient changes, hidden allergens, consumer reporting of unsafe or unclear food products and broader accountability across production and retail environments.
AFSA has introduced a Food Product Reporting feature that allows consumers to flag concerns or inconsistencies in food labelling and allergen safety: Report a food product concern
Throughout World Allergy Week, AFSA is focusing on closing the gap between awareness and practical management through education and access. AFSA’s patient focused Allergy Education Workshops are interactive 1.5 hour sessions hosted on Zoom. The workshops include specialist presentations followed by a dedicated 30-minute Q&A session where patients and caregivers can bring their questions directly to the specialists.
In addition, AFSA’s livestreaming events are 1 hour educational and awareness sessions streamed via social media and the AFSA website, making trusted allergy information accessible to a wider audience. You can access the recordings of our previous events too.
