AFSA NEWS MARCH 2018
Rare Disease Day
The 28th February was Rare Disease Day! This was a day when the Primary Immunodeficiency (PI) community joined forces with rare disease advocates, in celebrating Rare Disease Day 2018 around the theme of research. On this important occasion, the World Primary Immunodeficiency Week (WPIW) outlines the importance of medical research and encourages Governments, health authorities, and investors in all countries to further support and stimulate rare disease research to change the lives of people with PI. 70-90% of people with PI worldwide remain undiagnosed. If you wish to join our fundraising team for World PI Week (22nd-29th April 2018) please contact us at info@allergyfoundation.co.za.
Thank you to all who entered our competition on Facebook and for the great interaction – winner of the R500 Dischem voucher to be announced this week!
AFSA Fun Run
We are busy confirming the date and the venue for our AFSA Fun Run. We are very excited to host this event in conjunction with our brand ambassador and top South African athlete, Nolene Conrad, aligning our passions – a cause close to Nolene’s heart – and supporting our AFSA vision of creating awareness and education for asthma and allergy sufferers. We would like to host a 5km and 2.5km Fun Run event this year, to bring about awareness and to help asthmatics and allergy sufferers to take charge of their health. We aim to combine the AFSA Fun Run with World Asthma Day – on 1 May 2018 – which is just after World Allergy Week, 22nd– 28th April 2018.
