AFSA NEWS AUGUST 2017
‘Faces of Asthma’
On 23rd of July we filmed our first awareness and educational video – ‘Faces of Asthma’, showing true life stories of 2 South African families who live with severe asthma, and highlighting strategies for better control of symptoms and improvement to quality of life. The ‘Faces of Asthma’ Video is being sponsored by Novartis and Okuhle Media are producing the video. We can’t wait for the final product and to finally have some South African stories to share with our community.
For School’s – Training update
Our basic awareness video module is on our website. Please take a look.
Our interactive training programme ‘Management of Food Allergies in Schools’ which is aimed at teachers, carers and patients is almost complete. We are very excited to be rolling this out to all Western Cape Schools and anticipate a national roll-out soon after.
This is a robust and in-depth online program of approximately 1h30 mins duration, and with pre, post and interim assessments. All learners will be able to download a certificate after completion.
The online training programs are hosted on our digital portal – the AFSA Learning Management System, and because each learner has unique name and password, we would be able to accurately record and report on participation and results of all of the learners in real time. We would therefore adequately supply intelligent and accurate information around competence improvement.
We had a great response to our competition – thank you to everyone who participated and congratulations to our lucky winner who will be announcing on Facebook week commencing 6th August! Many thanks to our sponsor DreamGuard for this wonderful prize!
