HAE SA update
We are in the process of getting supplies of Ruconest for those patients who have shown interest – for use in acute and preoperative situations. This is being organised by Prof Jonny Peter and Lyndie Joubert.
Ruconest still has to be infused but it is a huge step forward, in that it has been made available to all and at a reasonable price.
In addition, Prof Peter is conducting the trial of a new drug especially formulated for prophylactic use for HAE patients. This is a tablet and will be taken daily, so if successful, will be amazing – although it will still take a while to get to market.
