Asthma is the most common chronic life-threatening disease of childhood, affecting about 20 per cent of children here in South Africa.

Spacers improve lung deposition of inhaled medication given by an asthma pump. Spacer devices make taking medication from an asthma pump easier and more effective.

Spacers should be used for all children, and for adults with troublesome asthma.
